Kristinakören (The Kristina Choir)
Kristinakören is a women’s choir with around 35 active members of varying ages. Founded in 1929, the choir has been active ever since.
To the best of our knowledge, Kristinakören is Sweden’s oldest women’s choir still in continuous operation. Its repertoire spans both sacred and secular music, ranging from Palestrina to The Beatles.
On a number of occasions, the choir has performed larger-scale works, including Stabat Mater by Pergolesi, Litanies à la Vierge Noire by Poulenc, A Ceremony of Carols by Benjamin Britten, and Missa Brevis in B by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Over the years, the choir has undertaken several concert tours. In addition to performing at various venues across Sweden, Kristinakören has appeared in Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Italy and Slovakia.
As of the autumn of 2020, My Steneby is the conductor of Kristinakören
