Kristinakören (The Kristina Choir)

Kristinakören is a women’s choir with about 35 active members of mixed ages.
The choir was established in 1929 and has been active ever since.

As far as we know, Kristinakören is the oldest, still active, women’s choir in Sweden.
The repertoire consists both of sacred and secular music and includes music by Palestrina as well as by The Beatles.

At a number of occasions the choir has put up larger works like Stabat Mater by Pergolesi, Litanie à la Vierge Noire by Poulenc, and A Ceremony of Carols by Benjamin Britten. Most recently Kristinakören has performed with Missa Brevis in B by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

The choir has made a number of concert tours over the years.
Besides various places in Sweden, Kristinakören has held concerts in Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Italy and Slovakia.

My Steneby is the conductor of Kristinakören since the autumn of 2020.
